New Music Concert Series presents
Ovidiu Marinescu, cellist & Richard Belcastro, sitarist
Ovidiu Marinescu and Richard Belcastro present a collection of solo works and duos for Cello and Sitar. The program features world premiere performances of music by Richard Belcastro and Ovidiu Marinescu.

About the Performers:
Ovidiu Marinescu is a Romanian-born cellist and conductor who has performed with symphonies, at festivals and has collaborated with musicians all over the world. Known for his powerful interpretations of orchestral works by Russian composers, Marinescu was invited to record Tchaikovsky’s Symphony no. 5 and Marche Slave with the Russian Philharmonic Orchestra in Moscow. Currently he is a member of Trio Casals and is the Director of the West Chester University Symphony.
Richard Belcastro is an active composer and musical activist in the Philadelphia area. His music has been called "an eclectic blend of melodic and rhythmic elements of Jazz and Rock and Roll with a uniquely contemporary harmonic vocabulary" - The NY Concert Review. His music is composed for a variety of instrumental combinations ranging from the very traditional to the distinctly odd as well as ventures into electro-acoustic music and purely electronic explorations.
