Sitarist and composer Richard Belcastro explores the potential of his instrument well outside of its Indian Classical roots by writing and performing new concert works featuring the sitar in variety of traditionally western styles and instrumentations. Come hear the premiere performances of new music composed by Belcastro and Joseph Nocella (Music faculty at DCCC). Featuring performances by cellist Naomi Gray, clarinetist Joshua Kovach, and guitarist and pianist Joseph Nocella.
Belcastro’s sitar performance can be heard on the recent Grammy nominated CD “People’s Emergency Center” by the PRISM Quartet, and in concert with chamber ensembles such as the Amernet String Quartet, Ensemble 54, the NakedEye Ensemble, and Melomanie.
