The Two Gentlemen of Verona
November 12–14 & 18–21 at 7 p.m.
Valentine leaves his friend Proteus in order to take up residence at the Duke’s court in Milan; but Proteus stays in Verona to be near his love, Julia. Meanwhile, Proteus’ father decides to also send Proteus to the Duke’s court, where Valentine has now fallen in love with the Duke’s daughter, Silvia. Proteus leaves, professing constancy and exchanging rings with Julia. The situation becomes complicated when Valentine asks Proteus to help him elope with Silvia, but Proteus realizes he has fallen in love with her himself. Julia decides to follow Proteus to Milan, disguising herself as a man. Treachery, banishment, and kidnapping ensue in this comedy written by William Shakespeare.
